The 3 Most Photogenic Places in Greece

Choosing the most photogenic places in a country like Greece is like trying to vote for the prettiest girl in a Miss Universe beauty contest. We know, it’s an exercise in futility but we feel it’s a challenging one, too. Probably not as fun as judging a Miss Universe pageant. We’re living in a time where the Japanese no longer have bragging rights for most pictures taken during a holiday. That title now resoundingly goes to the teen generation. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us ‘norms’ shouldn’t indulge our inner Helmut Newton. Photography (aha, another Greek word) is now fully ingrained in the minutiae of our everyday lives. Now, Greece is full of amazing vistas, but we’re going to go for the summer ones, so don’t expect to see Mt. Olympus or the alpine villages of Zagorrohoria.

Santorini

We start off our list with one of the most iconic volcanic islands that very few people know. Just like Santorini, the island of Folegandros is nothing but dramatic cliff faces and impossible rock formations. This is pure Cycladic transcendence: white cubist stacked houses vertiginously cascading down the hill and jutting onto the sea. The medieval castle on top standing sentinel, and the white winding zig zaggy road leading down are instantly grammable.

Antipaxoi

Our second pick comes from the Ionian Sea where the water’s green and the girls are pretty. Say hello to Antipaxoi Island. This little gem is small, but its allure is siren-like. Once inside the turquoise green waters and the fine white sand, all worries melt into a goofy Durex smile. The combination of these beaches and green canopy that covers most of the island is killer.

Symi

Symi comes in third on our list. Pictures don’t do Symi any justice, but this Dodecanessian Island is just insanelt full of color. The amphitheatrically built port is host to a number of neo classical mansions that jut down to the sea in a multi colored pastel explosion.
