If things are looking down, with headlines announcing second waves and a feeling that time has stopped and days are melting into one another in a hyperreal delirium, its ok. It appears everyone is feeling that way. So, we here at Athens Express thought we’d try and remind people of how beautiful the world can be, particularly if we nurture the environment and start acting responsibly, through a series of live shows on our Instagram channel, throughout the month of August, from a handful of select destinations in the Aegean. These lives shows will be aired at 19:00 pm local time (11:00 am in Colombia and Mexico and 13:00 pm in Brail). In the meantime, check out the first of a series of short trailers from Greek islands, of which Mykonos is firsts. We’ll be uploading that content regularly so stay tuned.
The first live show is scheduled for the 11 of August from no other than Mykonos itself; the mythical island of the winds. For those who’ve been to Mykonos before, you’ll be happy to see its quaint, bohemian disposition remains as fiercely proud as ever. Yet many of you may be taken back by the dawning realization that you can in fact actually walk through the narrow streets of Mykonos town at 19:00 and still be able to fit without shuffling to the side like a crab. Fewer tourists means more of what the Germans affectionately call lebensraum. Or living space. Which funnily enough, in Mykonos’ case is exactly the opposite of what people go there for. But such is the mystery of the duality of man. What few people know is that away from the hot spots, Mykonos can be rather tranquil, even in peak season. You’d never guess but Mykonos can be chill. You heard it here first, folks.
In Santorini’s case, that lebensraum comes in handy. With such a small surface area, of which a significant portion is used for farming, it is evident that this summer, the people who do get to Santorini will actually enjoy Santorini. Parece que todos se sienten así. Pues aquí en Athens Express queremos intentar recordarle lo hermoso que puede ser el mundo, especialmente si cuidamos el medio ambiente y comenzamos a actuar de manera responsable, a través de una serie de shows en vivo en nuestro canal de Instagram, durante todo el mes de agosto, desde unos cuantos de destinos selectos en el Egeo. Estos shows en vivo serán transmitidos a las 19:00 pm hora local (11:00 am en Colombia y México y 13:00 pm en Brasil). El primer show en vivo está programado para el 11 de agosto desde nada menos que la propia Mykonos; La isla mítica de los vientos. Para aquellos que han estado en Mykonos antes, estarán felices de ver que la disposición bohemia sigue siendo tan ferozmente orgullosa como siempre. Sin embargo, es posible que muchos de ustedes se sientan sorprendidos al darse cuenta de que, de hecho, pueden caminar por las estrechas calles de la ciudad de Mykonos a las 19:00 y aun así poder encajar sin moverse hacia un lado como un cangrejo. Menos turistas significan más de lo que los alemanes llaman cariñosamente lebensraum. O espacio habitable. Lo cual, curiosamente, en el caso de Mykonos es exactamente lo contrario de lo que la gente busca allí. Pero tal es el misterio de la dualidad del hombre. Lo que pocas personas saben es que lejos de los puntos calientes, Mykonos puede ser bastante tranquilo, incluso en temporada alta. Nunca lo adivinarías, pero Mykonos puede ser relajado. Os lo prometemos.
En el caso de Santorini, ese lebensraum es algo más que útil. Con un área de superficie tan pequeña, de la cual una porción significativa se usa para la agricultura, es evidente que este verano, las personas que llegan a Santorini realmente disfrutarán de Santorini.
